Caila Russell, D.O.
Licensed Optician/Owner CR Optical
I started in the Optical Industry in 1996 as an Optometrist Assistant and a Lab Technician. Working in the lab helped familiarize myself with the many different lenses that are in the industry. In 2005 I decided I wanted to further my career and take the Optical Science Program to become an Optician.
I was licensed in 2007 and required to maintain and demonstrate knowledge and skill in the field every year, either at live events or through networking.
I enjoy nothing more than finding the perfect pair of glasses that fit you best with the perfect lenses that suit your needs which is why i decided to open my own Optical in November 2019.
I have lived in the Bridgewater surrounding area my whole life, love to be with my family and hang out with my two Border Collies and absolutely love to travel!
I currently reside in Conquerall Bank with my husband (Jason) and son (Ethan), please feel free to come by my store and share a few stories.

DDayna Bowman joined the CR Optical team in February 2020. Dayna has worked in the optical industry since 2017 and became a licensed Optician August of 2019.
Caila is excited to have Dayna join the business and looks forward to working with her.
Ethan Russell is the son of owner Caila Russell. Ethan has studied sciences at Dalhousie University but shares an Interest in the optical business. Ethan works part time to help out with inventory control and data analytics.
Sophie Langille was born and raised in Bridgewater, graduate from PVEC and holds a diploma as a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant. Sophie's smile can be found at the front counter when you arrive for your appointment just before taking you through your pretesting with ease.
Nancy Lee Strowbridge joined our team March 2022. Nancy is a licensed Optician and has worked in the industry for over 30 years! So she can "SEE" her way around a lens or two. Nancy is a great asset to the team and loves working with friends and helping her clients.
World , meet Madison Maynard! This high energy, comically behaved young lady joined our office administration in 2023 and we still haven't stopped laughing.

Brianna Samson (Currently on Maternity Leave)
Optometrist (Lunenburg / Bridgewater Optometry)
Dr. Samson is native to a small town in Southern Ontario but fell in love with the East Coast when attending St. Francis Xavier University for Human Kinetics with a minor in Health Science. She went across the pond to Cardiff University for her Optometry degree (Cardiff, Wales, 2015) and worked in several practices in Southern Wales during her time training. Once back, she completed her Masters in Vision Science at the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, On, 2021). She is excited to be back on the East Coast where she can enjoy ocean side hikes and canoes on the lakes with her husband and dog.
Tom Carton
Optometrist /Owner Of Lunenburg and Bridgewater Optometry
Dr. Carton was born in Bridgewater too many years ago to mention. Although his family moved quite a bit when he was young his mother, a Bridgewater girl, always brought the family back to Green Bay for the summers instilling in Dr. Carton a love of the South Shore and a desire to live here someday.
Dr. Carton studied engineering at Saint Francis Xavier before enrolling in the Nova Scotia Technical College in Halifax. After completing the third year of the Architecture program he returned to X to earn a BSc in biology. He followed that endeavor with a graduate year in psychology at Dalhousie eventually finding himself enrolled in the Doctor of Optometry program at The New England College of Optometry in Boston where he earned membership in the Optometric Gold key Honour Society. Completing his residency at Walter Reid Army Medical Centre in Washington DC. Dr Carton graduated with honours in 1979. He opened his first practice in his home town of Houlton, Maine. Two years later he moved to Oromocto, NB. Where he practiced for 20 years in partnership with Dr. Joe White until moving to Maine to care for his elderly father.
While in Maine Dr. Carton attended The Landing School of boat building and then spent a year working in a local boat yard before returning to Canada. In 2005 he accepted the position of Clinical Director of the TLC laser eye centre in Halifax. He remained there for the next 5 years working closely with the centre surgeon Dr Dan Belliveau. Missing both general practice and being his own boss Dr. Carton opened the doors of his present practice in Lunenburg in the Spring of 2009.
These days Dr. Carton lives in the Feltzen South area of Lunenburg County with his wife of 35 years. Jennie is a well known artist whose work has been shown widely on The South Shore and in NB where she taught at The NB. College of Craft and Design for 12 years. They have four grown children enjoying their own careers in Toronto, Collingwood, Vermont and Ireland.
